In this Mission Community, our Lenten devotions begin on Ash Wednesday (2nd March) with the Order for the beginning of Lent at 7pm at Broadwoodwidger. This is a beautiful service that gives us all the chance to reflect on our mortality, humanity and God’s great and unending love and forgiveness.
I would like to encourage everyone to keep Lent faithfully.
This gives us an opportunity, after the restrictions of Covid, to kick start our prayer lives, and the corporate prayer life of these parishes.

1. Daily Prayer
The daily praying of the Offices of Morning Prayer will begin again, and will, when ever possible be streamed live.
Most of the time the offices will be held at St. Mary’s Lifton, where we have the Internet connection necessary. There will be times when this is not possible, and the offices will need to be lead from people’s homes and other places. We hope to have Daily livestreamed worship up and running at the very beginning of Lent.
It will be streamed, at least at the beginning on our YouTube channel, and we hope to spread to other social media networks in the near future.
We will be using the Order of Morning Prayer found on the Church of England Website, so everyone will have the opportunity to join in and follow.
The chat function will be enabled allowing us to communicate in some way during our worship together, at leas letting each other know who is there.
The daily services will be: Morning Prayer at 8.30am
Evening Prayer at 5.30pm
Do please come and join in this effort.
2. Daily Lent Reading and Reflection
The Church of England are providing daily reflections, prayers, and actions for every day of Lent. This Live Lent initiative can be followed both by the booklets that will be available in our churches, online, and using the Live Lent App on your Mobile Phone.
There is a children’s version which is ideal for younger people, and you might like to encourage your children or grandchildren to engage with this as they prepare for Easter.
3. Wednesday Eucharist
After a break caused by Covid restrictions, and personal circumstances, the Wednesday Eucharist is back, starting on Wednesday 9th March.
This short, but prayerful service is held at ST. Mary’s Lifton, and is for the entire community of parishes. It starts at 10.30am, and during Lent, will be followed by a time for reflection and discussion at the Rectory, and conclude with a simple lunch.
Everyone is welcome!
